Chapter 28

“I just don’t want you to hate me.”

“I’m not going to.”

Dane stood and gripped the wheelchair’s handles and hesitated. He could just push Guy right out the door again and down to the parking lot. It would be difficult to get Guy in and out of his car, but not impossible. Then he could take Guy home and make it clear that they weren’t going to see each other again.

But this version of Guy wanted to be with him.

He spun the chair around and pushed it into his bedroom. Guy could stay, but they were not going to have sex again. Dane needed to keep what was left of his integrity.

Guy watched Dane sleep, disappointed but not surprised that Dane had kept his distance, refusing to do more than simply hold him before succumbing to his exhaustion. Dane had had an uncharacteristic and unhealthy pallor the entire time he spoke, and it didn’t improve after he had finally fell asleep. His stubble was startling contrast on his white cheek.
