Chapter 34

Dane was right where he left him, still looking a little nervous. Guy wasn’t sure how, but before the night was over, he was going to have that twitchy light out of Dane’s eyes. He would make sure that Dane understood Guy loved him, appreciated his plans, and was proud of his accomplishments.

“I want you to have this,” Guy said, once he settled at the table again.

Dane took the box from Guy with a deep frown. “This was your father’s, wasn’t it?”

“It was.”

“You’re giving it to me anyway?”

“I’m giving it to you because I want you to have it. Open it.”

Dane gently lifted the lid and picked up the ring between his finger and his thumb. “Your abuelo’sring?”

“Sí. Te amo.”

“Oh…Guillermo. I…don’t know what to say.”

“Tell me you love me, too, and put it on.”

Dane hesitated for a moment, then slid the ring on his third finger. “Te amo.”

“See? Was that so hard?”

Dane laughed. “You say that like I’ve been holding out on you.”
