Being the same height meant I couldn’t avoid his stare. He was still smiling, but now it seemed softer, more intimate. I swallowed, trying to keep my composure. His gaze was laser sharp, and I didn’t want to believe what his eyes might be saying, though the bulge in his pants said plenty. Did he truly desire me, or was I just the warm body that was available? I worried my bottom lip with my teeth, and Ryker used a thumb to rub my mouth.
What was he doing to me? The music, the people, everything faded away as I fell into his gaze, mesmerized. When he leaned in and kissed me, it seemed like the most natural thing in the world, his lips on mine.
And that was why I bolted from the dance floor and left him standing there.
