Chapter 9

Gray’s fingers brushed against the back of his hand, and he increased the distance between them. Gray’s smile dimmed a little, but then he shrugged and kept on walking. “You have someone back home?”

Levi grimaced. “It’s complicated.”

“Yeah, long-distance never works.”

“Nah, it’s not that. We sort of ended it before I left, or…I left to prove a point.” Levi shook his head. “So fucking stupid.”

Gray laughed and slung an arm over Levi’s shoulders. The touch had some of his muscles unclenching. He’d do just about anything for a hug, it had been so long since anyone had touched him, but he didn’t want Gray to think he was clingy. And, touch-starved or not, there wasn’t anyone he wanted any closer contact with other than Doc.

“Being here puts things in perspective.”

Levi nodded.

Gray squeezed his shoulder. “I’d never want to be anywhere else.”

“You wantto be here? Are you insane?”
