“Aren’t you coming? You okay?”
“Yeah, just zoned out a little,” Andrea replied as she shook her head in an attempt to clear that strange feeling and bring herself more fully to the present. She smiled at Liz as she moved forward and placed her ball in the cutout of the bright green Astroturf. She couldn’t place her finger on why these flashes of déjà vu were so distracting, or so frequent, but she was determined to put it out of her mind and think about it later. She surveyed the green slopes and fake boulders that would impede her chances of a hole-in-one, took careful aim, and smacked her ball right into one of those boulders, causing it to bounce comically into the air, over the brick border, and into the midst of the bushes lining the walk. Andrea caught a quick glimpse of Liz trying to look sympathetic, but burst into laughter before Liz could say anything, and then they were both giggling.
