“I did find that out,” Mike replied.
“We think,” Brody continued, “that Newton, or one of the two other men who were with Jon and Newton about a month ago, might think Jon was taking pictures of them and didn’t like the idea. That’s based on the fact that Jon’s phone was missing after his murder.” He smiled slightly. “We could be reaching, but since it’s missing, and so is Jon’s laptop, it’s a possible reason one of them might have killed Jon.”
After Sage told Mike what Brody had said, Mike nodded. “One possible scenario. Now I have something to tell you.” He looked toward the sofa where Jon and Brody were seated, even though Jon knew he couldn’t see them. “Grant Newton was murdered around six this evening. The presumed killer is one Thomas Irwin, who was at the club with you and Newton, Mr. Watts, both times.”
Jon gasped. “Murdered?” He looked at Brody, who seemed as shocked as he was. Then Mike’s last words sank in. “Both times?”
