Jon frowned. “Like they found out I was too…too honest, to do something like that? I remember they started talking about how there was nothing wrong with using recreational drugs, as long as it was only once in a while. I came on kind of strong about how people who did that were stupid. That could have made them think twice, if they really had thought I’d be interested in getting involved with them.”

“Then you got the phone call from your mother, and one of them, probably Irwin, thought you were using that as an excuse to take their pictures for some reason,” Brody said.

“That would definitely worry them,” Mike agreed after Sage told him what Jon and Brody had said. “Why did they wait so long to do anything about it?”

“When they met him the first time, they didn’t know where Jon lived, or worked. Grant only knew his phone number.” Sage glanced at Jon, who nodded. “And Jon wasn’t a clubber, so finding him at one wasn’t an option.”
