I saw they were dropping down to a sidewalk and followed. We were in front of an office building. When we were inside, I saw a door with a sign which said ‘Sage Crewe—Landscape Architect.’
“Let’s hope he’s here,” Brody said as he walked through the door, with Jon and me right behind him. “It is Saturday.”
He was—if the man standing at a drawing table, totally involved in what he was doing, was him. Brody said, “Got a minute, Sage?”
Sage spun around, smiling when he saw Brody. “For you, always.” His gaze went to Jon then past him to me. “Damn,” he said. “I figured you’d move on, since I only saw your body, not you.”
I frowned. “You were there?”
Sage nodded. “If you’d materialized then, you wouldn’t have known it was me. I was in full regalia, posing as a crime scene investigator.”
“Huh?”
