Chapter 44

“I’m going crazy at home,” David told him. “Everywhere I turn, I see things that remind me of Tonio.” He scrubbed his hand through his hair. “I’ll be okay for rehearsing. Honest.”

I wanted to go to him, to hold him tight and tell him it would be all right. But obviously I couldn’t. Besides, it wouldn’tbe all right. Not for a while, anyway. Not until he came to grips with the fact I was dead, and then began to move past it and get on with his life.

“Hey,” Jon said softly, putting his hand on my shoulder. I jumped, startled because I could feel him touch me. He obviously understood, because he said, “I was surprised the first time Brody touched me, too. It has to do with our being the same, I guess. Ghosts can feel when another one takes their hand or what have you.”
