“Are we supposed to take off our clothes?” Henry whispered to Jamey when, in the faint light, Jamey could see about half of the witches were naked or wearing just their robes. A few had canes like he did. One even had a walker. How had he missed seeing her come in? Even naked the witches still looked ordinary. Some of them stood in pairs. Two men over there, and in the corner, two women across the room, and by the door. Dr. M and Ronan right beside him. Henry and me.

“I don’t know,” Jamey whispered back and looked at Dr. Melloy and Ronan, wondering if either he or Henry were ready to see Dr. M without her clothes; it seemed almost like looking at his mother naked. Not that Dr. M hadn’t seen a lot of him and Henry naked—with erections. Jamey pushed that thought away, too. “Dr. M? Are we—supposed to take off our clothes?”
