Chapter 84

“Henry—don’t—”

Henry stood up. The raven fluttered up and landed on Henry’s bare shoulder.

Kathleen sighed and raised her staff, which popped and sparked. The boy shrieked, dropped his books and coffee, and ran, only to be caught in a net of light. He twitched on the carpet and lay still.

“I dreamed you were finding me, and here you are,” Henry said in a sleepy voice. “Stop pulling at my hair, you goofy bird. Yes, I amglad to see you, too. All of you,” he added, looking up from the bird. “You did that in my dream, too,” he said, gesturing toward the boy wrapped in the net of light on the carpet.
