Chapter 102

Before leaving the bedroom Henry kissed Jamey one more time. Jamey stirred, murmured something, and half-turned, which woke Orange, who hissed at Henry and arched his back, his fur sticking up.

“All right, cat, I hear ya, but I keep telling ya: I am notgoing to hurt him. I love him,” Henry whispered. Damn cat didn’t care much for wolves. The first night, after leaving Jamey’s house, Orange had come pretty close to attacking Henry. Jamey had taken the snarling and hissing feline downstairs, not once, but twice. The third time Orange had yowled outside the bedroom door, Dr. M had intervened, muttering a few sleep-spells over the animal. When that didn’t work right away, she restrained him with a light-net and took the outraged beast back downstairs.

Things were getting better, but Orange still hissed at Henry, although not as much. Bartram had taken to sleeping downstairs, on a perch away from the cat. Their fight had been epic, feathers and fur everywhere.
