Chapter 6

“What do you mean?” Mattie asked, his brow furrowed. “Did something happen last night?”

“That’s literally what I just asked you!” Cam said irritably.

“I’m sorry,” Mattie said quickly. “I didn’t mean to upset you.” He rubbed one eye with his fist and yawned. “I’m still half asleep, I think.”

Before Cam could react, Mattie swooped in and dropped a kiss to his forehead. “I’ll start breakfast. You can keep resting if you want. Take your time.” An easy grin spread across his face as he snuck another kiss onto Cam’s cheek before hopping out of bed and heading out the door, still shirtless, clad only in a pair of black boxer briefs.

As soon as Mattie was out of sight, Cam sprang out of bed and looked around the room. Sky blue walls, colorful framed posters and photographs. Endless pillows and blankets and billowing curtains made the room feel soft, cozy. A basket of laundry sat by the closet, overflowing with scarves and T-shirts.
