“Doesn’t he?” Ethan said, touching Myles’s cheek. “We’ve been taking good care of each other, haven’t we?”


They seem happier. Myles says Ethan hasn’t had a drink in two weeks. They eat well. Have started working out together. They stay in on evenings. Have been quiet and the salon has been busy. I think maybe their relationship could endure. I wish nothing less for Myles.


“I’ll see you soon,” he whispered, before dropping a kiss on Ethan’s lips. I wonder what that feels like…To be kissed by Myles. It’s just a thought, nothing more. “I’ll be back this evening.”


Outside, Myles paused by the bike. “I missed riding this thing.” He looked at me and our gazes locked. “Thank you for being so patient.”


I winked at him and handed him his helmet. “You’re worth the suspense.”
