The visit wound down after that, and the four of us headed out.

Once magically delivered back to my place, alone again, the first thing I noticed was the silence.

“It has been a wonderful gathering,” Artemis had said to us at the door. “I do hope we can do it again.”

“Perhaps next Halloween time,” I suggested.

“A tradition. Every year.” Artemis was smiling. “Such would make the special season all the more special.”

“Very.” Liu seemed to mean it.

“I’m in,” CJ said.

And Pansy wondered, “Why wait? We haven’t even had this Halloween yet. Why don’t we just get together again tomorrow?”

I had forgotten exactly what day it was. Counting the ones that had passed since my wedding, I realized the next day was, in fact, actual Halloween.

“Two gatherings in twenty-four hours?” Now, Artemis laughed. “I cannot think of a reason why not.”

I could sense him still smiling just before we all blooped away.
