“Whoa!” I cheered. “That’s very impressive!”

“Should we try with a pumpkin, Big A?” CJ shoved me forward with the one I was holding.

“I do not believe we will be successful.”

“But we can try.” CJ was practically bouncing up and down.

“We can try,” Artemis said.

If only the pumpkin had bounced when it and five apples hit the floor.

“Oops. Sorry for the mess,” I said. “Let me—Ow.”

Artemis and I bumped heads when we both went for the apples.

“Apologies, Otto. Did I hurt you badly?” I felt his caring touch at my forehead.

“No.” I wanted to do the same to him, but I feared I might poke him in the eye. “The pumpkin is a lost cause.”

“The tie should have been a giveaway that my head was close.” He’d removed the hat. The wide brim likely got in the way.

“Yes,” I said. “It should have.”

“And I can conjure a patch full of pumpkins, should I wish.”

“Nice.” Artemis’s words led me to wonder if he’d gone outside earlier to conjure, rather than pick. “Do they grow pumpkins in Greece?”
