Sandy chuckled. “You’re not, but I’d suggest you put on some clothes. There’s someone at the door.”
“There is?” Thad’s heart jumped to his throat. Not again. He didn’t know if he had the energy to get kidnapped again. Perhaps Sandy had been right about moving somewhere else.
“They haven’t knocked yet, and I think it’s Jaecar and Ric if I heard the steps correctly—”
“You can tell by the steps?” Fascinating
“You learn pretty fast how someone walks, if you listen. So it’s Ric, I know the pattern of his gait, and I’m pretty sure it’s Jaecar, though I’m not certain. But he’s the only one down at the station who hardly makes any sound at all when walking. Damned cat.”
Thad grinned, yawned again, and threw off the covers. “What time is it?”
“Four-thirty. You’ve only been asleep for two and a half hours.” Sandy frowned and Thad nodded.
“It’ll have to do. They wouldn’t come here if it wasn’t something they needed help with.” Dread awoke in his mind. “I hope they’ve found the women.”
