“Hungry?” She smiled.

“Smells good.” He followed her to the kitchen.

Tom Alan sat down as Kat served up the egg dish. Ben salted his, then held up the shaker. “Tom? Kat?” They looked at each other. Both knew it was coming. “Tomcat.” Ben snickered.

“Isn’t he clever, Tom?”

Tom Alan smiled. “Tom Alan, please,” he said. “My chichi—papa—named me that.”

“Tom Alan…I like it.”

Ben agreed with Kat via a head nod, since his mouth was full.

“So, you enjoying Booger’s company,” Kat asked, with a hint of suggestion.

“He’s…um…nice,” Tom Alan answered. “Funny. Nice.” He stuffed in more egg.
