Chapter 100

Tom Alan didn’t offer an answer, just another kiss, there hidden in the corner of the railway station. “I’m going to miss you,” he said when he eventually pulled away.

“Sleep,” Milo advised, “on the plane.”

“I will.” It was funny how hotel beds were not his thing, but an airplane seat was like a cradle to a baby. Tom Alan got some of his best sleep ever at 30,000 feet. He let go of Milo’s hand as Kyoko-san and Erika came into view. “I love you.” He mouthed it deliberately but silently. Milo raised his foot slightly—just the toe and the sole of it, the heel stayed on the pavement as Tom Alan glanced back while walking away. Tom Alan knew exactly what he meant.
