“Magcat! Fly!” they shouted simply, as if the animal needed their instruction.
With an angry hiss, the magcat spread his wings and slowed the arc of his descent, pulling up from the water’s edge and tearing upwards.
“Taichou, impact!” Sumire announced.
The first of the sisters, the one in the white kimono, tensed her legs, and then leapt up into the air, wings unfolding as she raced into the air after the magcat. Sumire opened her mouth to issue commands to the second of the children and was abruptly cut off by Mauve’s instruction to Penelope.
“Knock that kid out!” she called, fiercely, stamping her bare foot in the surf.
The epimeliad reacted with lightning quick swiftness, darting forwards, pulling her right arm back, and raising her fist in an uppercut that lifted the girl in the black kimono off her feet and sent her stumbling backwards into the sand.
Sumire’s eyes flashed with anger.
“Chujo, wing attack!”
