“Maybe you’re right.”
“New kid, do you really want to fight in a league?” Mauve asked incredulously, and then exchanged a glance with Alaina, who had remained silent throughout the entire confrontation.
Eirian considered it for a moment.
“No, not really. I want to know what happened to my father.”
“Well, maybe you should—” Sumire stopped mid-sentence, looked at Poppy, and laughed. “Whatever. If you want to get stronger, maybe you should go up to the old haunted house.”
“Haunted house?” Eirian repeated.
Sumire smiled.
“That’s where I met the little sisters,” she said, not exactly telling the truth.
Mauve smirked.
“That place is for kids.”
“Then maybe we should all go up there and see how long you last,” Sumire answered snarkily.
Behind her sunglasses, Poppy rolled her eyes.
“You can count me out.”
“I wouldn’t have expected you to come,” Sumire stated.
Alaina turned to Poppy.
“Does everyone have a grudge against you?” she asked flatly.
