“No,” she said. “Gone.”

“Hmm, that is a problem,” Doc Labyrinth announced, and then with a sigh said, “We must presume that whatever presence took the vessel over destroyed it also.”

“Surely we would have received notification if the vessel was set to self-destruct?” Delilah said.

Doc Labyrinth turned to look sharply at her.

“All communications were cut after the death of the crew. We have no idea what happened after that.”

“If it was destroyed, the debris might still be present on the surface of Jupiter 2,” Seymour offered.

Labyrinth snorted again.

“That’s too risky, and we don’t have time. We can send a specialised vessel to recover the ship once we know what’s out there. For now, we really need a more detailed analysis of that area, which brings us to—”

“Scanning,” Luna’s voice cut him off. “No abnormalities so far.”
