Chapter 69

“Have a seat. Let me deal with the soul who has just entered the diner before you. Then we can talk.”

Catrina didn’t utter a single word in response, and her facial expression remained neutral as she approached the counter. Benjamin couldn’t guess at what was going through Catrina’s mind, but he had a strong feeling it would be nothing good. At least not for him. He was rather distracted while serving the latest soul in his diner, but he still managed to perform his duty without making any mistake. Once he was done, he walked toward Catrina and slowly sat next to her.

“How are you feeling this evening?” Catrina inquired after several seconds of silence had passed between them.

That was certainly unexpected, and Benjamin gaped a little before he shrugged at Catrina. “Much calmer. What’s my punishment? Do I have to tend to the diner for another one hundred years? Two hundred? Or has Persephone come up with something else?”
