Chapter 76

Persephone snickered. “Fine. You’re my descendant. You have my temperament for sure.”

Benjamin harrumphed. “I’m not going to be distracted. Get on with it.”

Persephone rolled her eyes. “Fine. When you first arrived here, I was worried.”

“That I would remain as an evil spirit?”

“Yes,” Persephone admitted. “Fortunately, you didn’t. Then I thought I would keep you around for a bit longer so you could calm down. You weren’t an evil spirit then, but you were an angry soul who hadn’t come to terms with the way you died. Not to mention the way your poor mother was treated in life and in death.”

Benjamin clenched his fists while suppressing the fury that threatened to boil over from somewhere deep within him. “Let’s not talk about that.”

Persephone sighed. “Sure. Anyway, you know what happens when a soul like you were back then is permitted to reincarnate.”

Benjamin nodded. “The negative memories can get stuck, and they will be carried over into the new life.”
