Chapter 77

“A part of me is tired of this whole thing.”

Persephone suddenly beamed widely at Benjamin. “Are you trying to say that you’re ready to make your peace with your past and move on?”

Benjamin hesitated. “I don’t know. I need time to think things through.”

“As you should,” Persephone agreed before lifting her cup up and sipping from it.

After that, the three of them ate the pastries in silence. Benjamin had no idea what was going through Persephone’s and Eric’s minds, and he couldn’t be bothered about them. He had so many things to ponder about himself. When he and Eric were eventually ready to leave, the two of them thanked Persephone before standing. However, he didn’t move away from the table.

“Ben, is something wrong?”

Benjamin shook his head at Eric. “No.”
