Chapter 42

Beck mock sighed. “You think of everything.”

It had actually been Troy’s mom’s idea, but Troy would let Beck think it was his, just to collect more brownie—or should that be troydie—points. Wrapping an arm around Beck’s waist, Troy pulled him in close and gently got them airborne.

“I approve of the softer take offs,” Beck said, pressing himself in even closer to Troy’s side.

“Me, too.” Troy rubbed his cheek against the top of Beck’s head.

After they’d been flying for some time, Beck grew restless. Sighing, he asked, “Are we nearly there yet?”

Troy laughed. “About halfway I think.”

Beck looked down. “We’re in the middle of nowhere.”

“Uh huh.” Troy nuzzled Beck’s hair.

Eventually, the lake and Adam’s parents’ vacation place came into view. Adam had been as good as his word and had switched on the porch lights, although the almost full moon lit the scene pretty well. Troy swooped in low over the lake, causing Beck to squeal in alarm.
