Chapter 41

“Come on,” Beck said, running a hand down Troy’s tux-clad chest. “Change.”

Troy raised an eyebrow. “Who’s supposed to be the daddy in this relationship?” But he nevertheless complied. His mom had set out their changes of clothes on the bottom of the bed.

“Didn’t know they’d brought that up here,” Troy said, pointing to the cedar chest at the base of the bed. He wondered if he should change out of his cape, although, if he did, would he be able to fly them to the lake house? Probably best put it back on again, just in case. His powers were so new, he didn’t know if he needed his cape to fly long-distances. Wouldn’t look good if a tuohygan had to call for an über to get his ass home.

Beck knelt next to the chest, his fingertips tracing the intricate carvings of winged creatures. “This must have taken hours to do,” he said quietly.

“Thought you’d made it.”

Beck shook his head. “Doubt I could make anything this nice.”
