Chapter 40

“Get yourself another drink from the bar, it’s free,” Troy told Coach.

Coach nodded and moved off, Troy seeing how Chief Bartlet’s eyes followed him.

“Oh my God, Troy muttered softly.

“What?” Beck asked. The man had been even more uncomfortable at the attention paid to him than Troy had been, so had stuck like glue to Troy’s side.

“Tell you later.” Troy put an arm around Beck’s shoulders. “Wanna see if we can slip away to…?” He waggled his eyebrows.

Beck laughed. “Not a chance. You’ve still got several more members of your adoring public to greet.”

“Sorry, babe.”

Beck smiled sweetly. “It’s fine. I know it goes with the territory of marrying a tuohygan.”

“Folks should calm down once they realize I’m pretty much the same guy I’ve always been.”

Beck shook his head. “You were awesome before, now you’re off the scale.”

Troy groaned. “Yeah, right.”
