Chapter 39

At the senior councilman’s urging, Beck took both of Troy’s hands in his own.

The older man rested his right hand on the back of Troy’s Neck and his left on Beck’s. “And by the power invested in me by The Council for Sotan Affairs, I proclaim you SuperTroy Ashton and Omega Becket Ashton!”

The wedding guests leaped to their feet and applauded wildly.

Troy saw a bright flash of lightning, then he heard a loud clap of thunder. Immediately his head throbbed with a cacophony of thoughts and sensations. Overwhelmed, he clutched his head, fearing it would explode.

“Troy!” Beck sounded panicked.

The senior councilman squeezed Troy’s shoulder. “It’s okay. You’ll be fine. Just dial down the noise.”

The image of an old-fashioned rotary dial appeared behind Troy’s tightly closed eyelids, and he pictured turning the knob counterclockwise. Instantly the pain caused by the mental chatter lessened.

“That’s it,” the senior councilman said.
