The senior councilman then announced Lizzie’s group were to sing, and the guests were encouraged to join in. Beck’s amazing singing voice was another revelation. Why did Troy not know this either? He was disturbed.

Sensing Troy’s unease, after the song had finished and while people were retaking their seats, Beck whispered, “None of my skills can compare to the ones you have or will have.” He then lightly punched Troy’s arm. “So quit your bitching.”

Troy laughed; once again, Beck had made everything okay. “Love you so much.”

Beck smiled. “Not as much as I love you.”

The senior councilman then asked the gathering if anyone had any objections to Troy and Beck marrying. A tiny part of Troy worried that Beck’s parents had crept into the grounds and would cause a scene. However, no one raised an objection and the two began to say their vows.
