Chapter 62

“I left it in the metal cupboard,” Beck said, taking the seat next to the doctor’s desk.

Dr. Hanssen smiled. “Thanks. I’ll give you a script for something to help settle your stomach.”

“It’s okay, I don’t—” Beck began.

“Thanks,” Troy said, getting to his feet, walking up to the doctor’s desk, and taking the prescription she held out.

With instructions to get back to her if the symptoms persisted or worsened, Dr. Hanssen showed Troy and Beck out of her office.

“That so wasn’t necessary,” Beck said as they walked across the parking lot.

“It was. Okay if we stop off at the drugstore to fill your prescription? Or do you need to get straight home to rest?”

“Troy,” Beck fixed him with a look.

As it lacked the power of Troy’s mother’s glares, Troy shrugged it off. “Drugstore it is then.”

“We need a few things at the grocery store, so we’ll go to the pharmacy there.”

“Okay.” Troy knew it wasn’t worth fighting over. He pressed the button on the key fob and unlocked the car.
