“I did. There’s also…another thing.” Jian looked him deep in the eyes.
“Yeah?”
“Uh-huh.” He nodded, his eyes never straying.
“What is it?”
“Well…I can’t decide if I’m going to tell you or not.” He grinned.
“Tell me!”
“Okay, okay.” Jian bit his lip. “The finger food testing, the dessert buffet, and all the candles, they are for New Year.”
New Year?“That’s your plan?”
“A few people are coming over.”
Victor smiled. “Yeah? Who?”
“Well…most people we know in Courtland and here…and in Spain.”
Victor’s heart thudded hard in his chest. “You’ve invited Mom and Dad?” His eyes burned and his throat contracted.
“Yes. They’re coming on Monday, and they’re staying for a week.”
A tear escaped the corner of his eye. “That’s why you didn’t want me to call them to tell them we were engaged.”
He shrugged. “I figured we could do it face to face.”
