He didn’t have long to wait until the dark-haired man—who he presumed from how Radclyffe had reacted to him at the party was Orsino—and two other men appeared in the library doorway, silhouetted by the dim light behind them.

As they started toward Damien, Orsino paused, holding up his hand. “It seems Radclyffe left someone here to protect him from,” he chuckled, “me. Deal with him while I figure out where the secret entrance to his hiding place is.”

“Yes, sir,” one of them replied as the two of them moved toward Damien.

Damien let Orsino pass him before stepping into the center of the hallway. “You want me, come and get me.”

They took him at his word, drawing knives from sheathes at their waists as they rushed him.
