Chapter 62

“You’re back with us.”

“Not sure I want to be, Felicia.” He heard her chuckle. “It’s not funny,” he groused. “I think I could take a dozen aspirin and they wouldn’t even begin to touch my headache.”

An arm went around his shoulders, easing him into a sitting position. “She has something to help, but you have to open your eyes to take it,” his father said.

“What is this?” Lyle slit his eyes open barely enough to see the cup she was holding.

“A strong dose of willow bark tea with some honey to counteract the bitterness.”

“In for a penny, I guess.” He took the cup and quickly drank it down. To his relief, his head almost immediately felt better. It still ached but it was bearable. “A witch’s brew?”

“Sorceress’s, thank you very much.”

“I stand corrected.” Lyle turned to his father. “Did whatever you did work?”

“To the extent that you’re now aware of your magical abilities, yes.”
