The thought brought Spenser close to tears. It had to have been love when we were together like that, hadn’t it? Jordan couldn’t have been just acting, could he? But then, Jordan was an actor.


Spenser shook his head to rid himself of these thoughts. Why was he trying to justify any part of their relationship? Jordan had betrayed him, pure and simple. If Spenser had known what Jordan did for a living, there never would have been a relationship in the first place. It would have been a deal breaker.


Spenser drove for a few minutes. He was glad Fred had shown up when he did. Spenser didn’t know what he would have done if he hadn’t.
