“I was coming back from the party when I noticed you having a crisis in the middle of nowhere.” Milo didn’t beat around the bush. Considering his acidic breath, a few drinks probably gave him the necessary courage.
Looking around, Liam realized he deviated from the original road and ended up much closer to the beach than he planned.
“It’s nothing. I was just heading to the party,” Liam answered and knew fully that he was breaking their honesty rule. He felt guilty. It pushed more stressful energy into his system. He didn’t know how to deal with it.
Milo raised an eyebrow, not looking entirely convinced. “Well, the party’s still on if you’re interested.”
“Why did you leave then?” Liam asked. His eyes couldn’t focus on one thing so they kept shifting from Milo to the sea. His body was desperate for release.
“I wanted to be with you,” Milo said. It was considerate of him to not comment on Liam’s unusual behavior.
