Liam cancelled his wedding when his fiancé Jasper ran away with his best friend. He heard the floor creaking under Milo’s heavy footsteps.


“I don’t promise I’ll pick up,” Liam responded and William took this as his cue to finish the conversation.


“That’s fair. It was great talking to you, but I have things to do.”


‘And so do I,’ Liam thought, considering an option of moving on and leaving Jasper to soak in his guilt.


“Yeah, I miss you guys. See you soon.”


Now, Liam picked up the phone again, needing to feel reassured. He dialed the number he knew by heart as he felt panic enveloping him. He used the new phone number, just in case. He wanted to hear his voice. He wanted to experience this warm feeling again.


Liam froze in place. His hand let go of the phone which landed on the bed with a thump. He couldn’t move.
