The paved road gave way for a gravelly one, the trees creating walls around them, and after a few minutes on the road Elijah blew out a breath of relief.

“Better?” Kol grinned at him.

“Yes. Thank you.”

The warmth spreading in his chest had his muscles unclenching. Finally, he’d done something right. He should’ve taken Elijah home right from the start. “We’ll get through this.” He let go of the steering wheel to reach over and touch him, but stopped himself.

Elijah didn’t like touch. He’d always assumed Elora’s dislike of touch was because of her ability, but if Elijah was the same way, was it their abilities making them avoid physical contact? Was it a psychic thing? He couldn’t have a mate who refused to sate his need for closeness.

Kol needed to touch him, ached to touch him, but it could wait. He had the patience of a…panther. He sighed. They were screwed. But he’d teach Elijah to never fear his caresses, never.
