Chapter 31

“Nothing.” Eli took a deep breath. “I was trying to remember when I last ate and recalled I was about to cook when the man came to Elora’s apartment.”

Jaecar nodded. “Okay, first food, then you sleep.” He strode into the house, and Eli followed. He didn’t know what to do about Jaecar’s hurt feelings.

Varg never had hurt feelings, and Elora hardly ever did either, not around him at least. Other than those two, he only ever spoke to old man Frank who lived near the beach by his lake, and nothing Eli did or said ever hurt him.

Jaecar turned to look at him with raised eyebrows.

The corner of Jaecar’s mouth twitched, a sparkle lit in his eyes. “Darling, next time I have my junk in your face, it’ll be because you begged me to put it there. You have nothing to worry about.”

Eli blinked, his face heating. “You had…You were—” He meant to say naked, “—hard.”
