“Are you okay?” The voice was rough.

“Kol?”

Warmth and worry filled his mind. “I was so scared, babe.” Large, careful hands slid over his body, lingered at the cuff around his wrist. “You’re not hurt?”

Eli shook his head, unable to process what had happened. “C-Cold, so cold.”

“Yes, I was afraid of that.” His lips slid over Eli’s in a fleeting kiss. “What happened to Elora?”

“She found you.”

Jaecar pulled away a little. “She found me?”

“We’ve been walking for hours.” He took a deep breath to keep his voice from breaking. “We’ve been walking and walking, and it’s been so cold. When it got dark, we couldn’t see where we went, and we didn’t know what to do.”
