Jaecar pulled away a little. “She found me?”


“We’ve been walking for hours.” He took a deep breath to keep his voice from breaking. “We’ve been walking and walking, and it’s been so cold. When it got dark, we couldn’t see where we went, and we didn’t know what to do.”


Jaecar crouched down and checked on Elora.


“We weren’t sure we’d survive if we stopped and settled down somewhere. Neither of us is dressed for a long stay in the cold, and it feels like it’s getting colder and colder.” Though Jaecar was naked.
