Chapter 58

“Give him back to me!” Varg threw another globe, but it was less impressive.

Give him back? Did he mean Elijah had gotten away from him? Kol inhaled, Elijah had been there, but it was hours ago. Had he been out in the cold the entire time? Fear gripped his insides. How cold did it have to be for someone to freeze to death? Humans were fragile beings.

Ulf’s scent wafted over to Kol, and he opened his mouth in a grin—panthers didn’t grin, but…He took a step closer to Varg, keeping him focused on him, and Leo did the same.

Seconds went by, then a dark shape launched. Paws hit Varg’s back and he toppled over, face first, to the ground. He never saw Ulf coming; a real shifter would’ve noticed the scent closing in.

Ulf shifted on top of him, put a knee between his shoulder blades, and grabbed his wrists. “What do we do to keep him from doing magic?”
