Chapter 49

When he wasn’t reading lines or practicing fight scenes off screen, Ethan found himself glued to his phone. His and Finn’s texts were limited, and usually condensed down to the quickest possible conversations. Deborah warned them both, constantly, that Ethan’s devices could be hacked at any moment. As a result, she advised Ethan to delete Finn’s text log as an extra precaution. Simply put, Ethan couldn’t do it.

Finding himself alone, staring at blank walls, he wondered. He wondered what Finn was up to. Was he taking care of himself? Was he eating properly? Ethan recalled Finn’s requests for dinners and breakfasts, remembering how simple it was to get him smiling. He sometimes toyed with the idea of sneaking off into closets and greenrooms, if only to feel his kiss again. But, as every day went by, he was left with the cold realization that he was too much of a coward to try.
