Chapter 69

Ethan slipped into his car and warmed his hands. He should have brought his gloves. After heating up his car, Ethan slipped from the parking lot and went for a drive. He needed to get his prescription filled before the whole world closed up for the next two days. Unfortunately, the only pharmacy that carried his medicine and was open on Christmas Eve was on the other side of town. And so, he found himself in the parking lot of a shabby supermarket in an unfamiliar neighborhood. After putting on his usual cap, sunglasses, and now aiding scarf, Ethan made his way inside.

The market was jam packed. Families of all sizes pushed around shopping carts with mountains of food and presents for the next day. Ethan wandered towards the back and waited in line at the pharmacy counter. After twenty minutes, he was called forward.

“Here for a pickup. Teller, please.” He handed the pharmacist the prescription slip.
