“Whatever.”
I begin to slide pieces to his puzzle together. “You two aren’t monogamous with each other, are you?”
He shakes his head. “Let me be frank with you, Joslin. Cliff isn’t the perfect man for me, and I’m not the perfect man for him. We both know this. Sometimes it’s too hard to explain who we really are, or what we like, and what’s going on in our lives. Sometimes we get tired of each other. The relationship isn’t fire and sparks. It’s never been like this between us. It’s not the inferno it should be. It’s just easier this way for me…us. It’s simple to have Cliff around, and vice versa. Of course, we have an agreement. I never have to worry about him and his sleepovers with other men. I know where he’s at. I know what he’s doing with other guys. This works for me. And I guess this arrangement works the other way around. He also knows about my romantic interests. Where I’m at, and who I’m sleeping with. It works for the both of us.”
