When Alec realized that, he’d probably lose interest. And they would all go back to their separate lives.
“Great. I’m really looking forward to see you,” Alec said.
“Me, too. I’m glad you called.”
“Really?” He sounded genuinely surprised.
“Yeah. I’ve been…thinking about you,” Nick confessed.
“I’ve been thinking about you, too. Tonight, then.”
“Tonight.”
When Nick hung up the phone, it felt like a gray cloud had finally been lifted.

Nick walked into the small club with far more confidence than he actually felt. It was easy to pretend that he was meeting Alec for drinks at the resort, especially since he had never been to that particular club before. As long as he could pretend that nothing had changed, he could pretend he had the upper hand. He could hide the fact that Alec had gotten under his skin and never left. It would be even easier without Drew there. He could keep control of a one-on-one situation.
