Chapter 25

“He wasn’t rude…after.” Nix looked out through the window for several seconds.

“So you want to date a guy because of how he was in his post-climax glow?”

Nix chuckled. “You have a funny way of expressing yourself, Jules.”

“I’m only trying to understand.” And trying not to picture Nix all snuggled up with another man. Damn, it had been a bad idea to come here. “Perhaps I should get going. Booksy wants his tuna.”

“Jules.” Nix reached across the table and covered his hand with his large, callused one. Jules’ heart thudded in his throat, and he had a hard time breathing. He gave Nix a panicked look, wanting to run out of there.

Nix’s expression softened. “Thank you for coming. I didn’t want to be alone, and…you were the only one I wanted to talk to.”

Jules nodded and almost toppled the chair over when he stood.
