“Bring him with you tomorrow.”

“Tomorrow?”

Logan frowned. “It’s Sunday.”

“Right. Yeah, no, I don’t think he’ll be up for Sunday dinner with you and Kristen.”

“Ask him.”

They drank their coffee, chatting a little, but mostly being quiet, and when Logan left, Nix listened to the story he’d fallen asleep on—from the beginning. 20

Jules hummed as he put away the dishes. Spending the day with Nix had been great, but what would he do now? He could read, but he was too…buzzed to sit.

“I’m being silly, Booksy.”

Booksy glared at him from where he was sitting on the floor.

“Yes, I know. But do you think he’d want to come over and watch a movie with us?” He glanced at Booksy again, and this time he swished his tail. “You’re right, but he isn’t a stranger anymore, is he? And we can act like normal people for a night, I’m sure.”
