Kyle shook his head. “You’re going to be one of those, aren’t you?”


“Those?” Nix was getting bored with this conversation, the checkout was right there. He only needed to take a few steps, pay, and then he could head off to Jules.


“Give up? What the hell are you talking about?”


Kyle snorted. “You haven’t noticed? You go to a club on the weekend, you recognize the people there for the most part, but they disappear, and then you hear they’ve gotten a boyfriend, and bought a house, and…given up.”


“Jesus, it’s not giving up. Why do you think they run around the bars in the first place?”
