Chapter 11

“Will I see you in the park tomorrow?” he asks as he stands. He puts on his jacket, and a hat, a dark gray trilby. It suits him well, face andpersonality.

“I like the hat. Very dapper.”

He grins. “Why, thank you, kind sir.”

I stand, too, and when we’re both dressed, I pay for our food before we wave goodbye to the waitress and walk out of the diner.

“Barring any work catastrophes, I’ll be in the park tomorrow,” I say in reply to his earlier question.

“Great. Princess and I will see you then.” He steps closer. “May I hug you?”

I answer by wrapping my arms around his waist. He’s warm, and I can feel his muscles flexing through layers of clothing when he wraps his arms around my shoulders. Despite his lean appearance, he’s strong. Solid. Someone a man could lean on.

“Thank you for dinner,” he murmurs. “It was fabulous. Especially the company.”
