Chapter 9

“Yes! I want to show it to you.” The way he beamed had butterflies tearing free in Kace’s chest.

They headed for the car again, Kace’s stomach grumbling, and he kept looking at the clock. “Drive-through?” He wasn’t in the mood for fast food, but they didn’t have time to stop at a better restaurant.

“Sure.” Luke was grinning at him, more relaxed in the passenger seat than Kace had seen him in a long time.

“You feeling good?” He returned the grin, heat coursing in his veins. It was a bad idea to react to Luke the way he did, but he couldn’t help it.

“I am.”

The drive was both great and not. Kace was aware of Luke’s every move—every smile filled him with warmth, every laugh left him tingling.

This was bad.

When they finally got to the cabin, Kace blew out a sigh of relief. He needed to move.
